Usually, one of the first questions potential customers who I talk to ask: How much does a new air conditioner cost? Because this is a very difficult question to answer I will do my best to explain some general information.
Since we classify the replacement of an air conditioner as an investment and not a purchase, I always try to use the analogy of other investments consumers make.
How is this an investment? Simple.
[in-vest-muh nt] noun: the investing of money or capital in order to gainprofitable returns, as interest, income, or appreciation in value.
When replacing your air conditioner, a return of investment is usually something that I speak about in all of my consultations. Depending on the age and condition of your current equipment, the cost to replace can easily be offset in as little as a couple of years due to savings on your energy bill. Air conditioners are rated by whats known as a SEER (Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ration) rating, sort of how cars are measured in MPG (Miles per Gallon). The higher the SEER (MPG) rating, the more energy efficient = the lower your energy bill.
Top that initial investment with a great financing plan, and in some cases the money you save every month actually pays for the new air conditioner itself!
Now Joe, you still haven’t given us the actual cost.
Well, that’s where it becomes difficult to explain. There are literally hundreds of different combinations and options available with so many different factors (for example: size, capacity, dimensions, locations, features, requirements, etc). With so many factors, price ranges can vary drastically.
Think about other investments people make, for example, cars or houses. Lets use a car for example. You can find a car with the base package for around $15,000, but once you start customizing the vehicle with add-ons or upgrades it could easily cost you $35,000. Now think about it, the average person only keeps their car for 2-5 years, so why do they elect for so many additional items? Considering most people spend upwards of a couple hours per day in their vehicle, they want comfort, quality, durability and peace of mind. See where I’m going with this?
OK, I understand what your saying, but what is the cost?
Well, since your so determined, I can honestly advise you that costs for air conditioner replacements can range anywhere from $3,000 – $15,000, but remember there are so many factors that determine exactly how much your investment will be.
