Within the last couple of months consumer reports has issued updated reports on major air conditioning manufacturers.The results are as expected, and just further show that brand does matter for Satisfaction, Quality & Reliability.
- Trane (who manufacturers America Standard) & Carrier (who manufacturers Bryant) came in once again at number 1 for customer satisfaction with the reliability of their system by the fifth year of ownership.
- Goodman & York once again came in at the bottom of the list.
- York evaporator coils came in as the least reliable part. As for evaporator coils, those from systems made by American Standard, Trane, Carrier, and Lennox are more reliable than those from Goodman, York, Ruud, Amana, and Rheem.
- Goodman & York blower motors are the most repair-prone compared to other manufacturers.
Of course quality brands of equipment is one of the most important factors when purchasing a new air conditioner system, but even if your buying one of the top rated brands, you still need to choose a quality contractor to do the work. A poor installation of quality equipment can result in poor efficiency, poor comfort and increased repairs.
